Building The Future

Graphisoft released a cross-plattform model viewer called BIMx, which makes it possible to visually approach BIM models from everywhere.
Graphisoft BIMx is an interactive 3D presentation tool that allows all the stakeholders in a project to have access to the building model, without requiring any specialized BIM skills.
This is a major relief for construction project management and architects. BIMx makes it possible to show clients pre-planned virtual routes through the building on the go, which makes the project more comprehensive and meetings less inefficient. Further, the viewer provides basic data from BIM models like measurements. It is possible to check on site if the provided information by the model is realized in a proper way. Unfortunately there is no comment function yet, which would make collaboration between project teams even more easier. I know that this piece of software was more created as a presentation tool than a project management tool, but imaging you can work on projects having the possibility to comment on single aspects of the models on the go. Imagine all your comments are syncing with your office or are shareable to your team-members. That would be awesome. Finally, it is a first right step in the right direction, a good start and all the mobile apps are free for download, while featured by a sample project. I totally recommend to check it out and to make up your own opinion! By the way: The app design is anything but pixel-perfect. Looking forward to the updates.
